The 5th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Economics and Business

The 5th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Economics and Business (GAMAICEB) is an Annual International Conference organized by Publication Unit, Faculty Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

This year, the conference will explore the theme of “Sustainable Development: Challenge and Opportunity in Developing Countries”.

The ultimate goal of human development is to enable and ensure the sustainability of the welfare and prosperity of society and its environment. Thus, in order to maintain the success achieved by the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) becomes priority in various aspects. Broadly speaking, the objectives of sustainable development encompass climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice. All development components are interconnected, thus, achieving one development indicator influence the success of others. Considering the importance of these issues, we attempt to bring academics, researchers, and practitioners from all across the globe to contribute to the discussions in this area, especially in the context of developing countries. Our goals are to understand where the progress are currently standing in promoting the sustainable development, as well as understanding the challenges, and explore the opportunities.


This conference is aimed to provide a medium for participants in disseminating their research ideas and results as well as developing their networks. Through the participants’ contribution, it is hoped that this conference could provide a deeper understanding on the current state of research on sustainable development in developing countries context as well as stimulate research ideas in the field of economics, business, and accounting, especially on sustainable development areas.

The theme for this conference is: “Sustainable Development: Challenge and Opportunity in Developing Countries”.
